Escape The World (2025)

If you could escape the world for a moment, would you? And where would you go?

The world is beautiful, but it can also feel frightening or overwhelming. Many youngsters worry about their future. This makes the search for autonomy and adulthood especially challenging, and the desire to escape even stronger. Fascinated by this phenomenon, often referred to as ‘modern escapism’, I created a multidisciplinary film in which self-made clothing, sound, and shadow puppets come together to form a new environment. This environment has emerged from conversations and exercises I carried out with young people. The film translates how they experience escapism. The need for peace, friendship, freedom, and fun lies at its heart.
